Financial stress can be one of the most paralyzing barriers to entrepreneurship—but it doesn’t have to be. Langdon Barnes of LB Financial Coaching knows this firsthand, and he’s now bringing that lived experience to Western Kentucky founders as a Sprocket mentor.
In addition to offering one-on-one mentorship — which is free and accessible in the Sprocket WKY course hub — Langdon has created a free workshop inside the SprocketWKY course hub that’s designed to help entrepreneurs untangle limiting beliefs, build confidence with their finances, and take action toward sustainable financial health.
We recently sat down with Langdon for a Q&A to get to know him better and share why he’s so passionate about helping entrepreneurs build not just successful businesses—but lives that feel whole and steady.
What drew you to mentoring founders in Western Kentucky?
“I know how heavy financial stress can feel. I’ve been there—losing sleep over bills, second-guessing every purchase. That kind of pressure makes it hard to lead or grow anything. It impacts your confidence, your decisions, and your ability to show up fully in life and in business. You can’t dream big when you’re just trying to survive. I want to help walk alongside entrepreneurs on their journey toward financial health.”
What’s one piece of advice you often give entrepreneurs that surprises them?
“Set boundaries early and protect your time. If you want to stop working at 5 PM and be present with your family, you have to model that from day one. Your clients will respect the schedule you uphold. You get to define how your business fits into your life—not the other way around.”
If a founder walked into a coffee shop and sat down across from you, what would you hope they ask you about?
“My family. I love talking about my wife and kids. They are just so awesome and fun.”
What’s something you wish more people understood about your area of expertise?
“I’m not trying to make people billionaires or sell some ‘10X your life’ dream. That’s not the goal. I want to guide people toward a healthy relationship with money—one that feels balanced, intentional, and sustainable. At the end of the day, you can really only do three things with money: save it, spend it, or give it. My job is to help clients find a rhythm that reflects their values and supports their life—not just their bank account.”
And just for fun—what’s a go-to podcast, book, or habit that helps you stay sharp?
“Podcast: DIY Money, The Ramsey Show, The Moneyguy Show, and Intentional Fatherhood
Habit: No screen time until after I read and get ready in the morning.
Books: Habits of the Household & Simple Money, Rich Life”
Whether you’re just getting started or trying to scale something big, Langdon’s guidance is rooted in real life—where finances are more than just numbers. They’re a reflection of what you value and how you want to live.
