That’s why we’re launching Sprocket-U, a summer internship program that gives college students a front-row seat to the startup world. This isn’t your typical internship. It’s hands-on, fast-paced, and rooted in real-world impact. Students won’t just be filing papers—they’ll be working alongside founders, solving real problems, and helping innovative businesses move forward.
Why Sprocket-U?
Startups move fast. They’re messy, creative, high-energy environments where innovation thrives. We want students to experience that firsthand—to see what it’s really like to build something from the ground up.
The Sprocket-U Internship Program is built around that idea. It’s designed for curious, motivated students who want to roll up their sleeves and gain experience that matters. Whether you’re into marketing, engineering, design, or business development, there’s a place for you in the startup ecosystem—and we want to help you find it.
What Experience Can Interns Expect?
Interns will work 10–15 hours a week from May 28 to August 6, earning school credit while gaining skills that set them apart. The experience is hybrid, with opportunities for in-person collaboration at our Paducah space and virtual work when needed.
Each intern will be carefully matched with a startup or with the Sprocket team based on their interests and skillsets. We’ll also throw in a little startup flair—interns won’t find out who they’re paired with until onboarding day!
Students will also complete a capstone project, giving them a chance to solve a real challenge, showcase their work, and walk away with something tangible for their portfolio.
We’re currently recruiting interns across several focus areas:
- Business: Entrepreneurship, admin, operations
- Marketing: Social media, outreach, communications
- Graphic Design: Digital and print design, branding
- Videography: Editing, storytelling, content creation
- Engineering: Software or mechanical
- Nonprofit Management: Community impact, fundraising, program development
So, this program is more than just summer support—it’s about creating real connections between students and the region’s growing innovation economy. Sprocket-U is a launchpad for young talent, a resource for startups, and a powerful way to keep bright minds engaged right here in West Kentucky.
