Demo Day 2025: Celebrating Innovative Founders & Startups

December 16, 2025

When people think about innovation hubs, their minds usually jump to Silicon Valley or Austin. But here in Western Kentucky, something special is happening. Our recent Demo Day proved what we've known all along: this region is producing world-class entrepreneurs solving real problems with innovative solutions.

Demo Day wasn't about fancy pitches or venture capital theatrics. It was about showcasing eight incredible companies and the smart, driven founders behind them. These entrepreneurs represent the true range of innovation coming out of Western Kentucky, spanning everything from agriculture and manufacturing to healthcare AI, gaming, and music tech.

They pitched to a room full of investors, community leaders, and key stakeholders.

This night was made possible by our incredible sponsors and partners. Thank you for supporting Sprocket's mission of creating, recruiting, and growing tech-enabled businesses.

Event Sponsors: Ray Black & Son, Paducah Bank, FNB Bank, WK&T

Sustaining Partners: Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, McCracken County Fiscal Court, & City of Paducah.

Meet the Founders Who Are Changing the Game

Swell: Supporting Those Who Protect Us

Ben Alegre, Head of Growth, pitched on behalf of Swell founder Rachel Edenfield. Swell is tackling a critical but often overlooked problem: mental health support for first responders. Their AI-powered application serves as a self-guided mental health performance coach that fits right in your pocket. What makes it special? It's designed using real clinical research and recommendations, not just generic wellness advice. First responders face unique stresses, and Swell understands that.

DataRovers: Solving Healthcare's Billion-Dollar Problem

Founder Jawad Popalzai presented DataRovers, an AI-powered SaaS company addressing one of healthcare's most frustrating challenges: denied insurance claims. Hospitals lose millions navigating the complex world of revenue cycle management and fighting denied claims. DataRovers uses artificial intelligence to streamline this process, helping healthcare providers get paid for the care they provide so they can focus on what matters most - their patients.

Santerre International: Turning an Invasive Species Into Organic Gold

Mark Anderson pitched Santerre International with a solution so clever it makes you wonder why nobody thought of it sooner. He's created an organic fertilizer made from Asian Carp, the invasive species that has been wreaking havoc on our rivers and lakes. His product solves two problems at once: it gives organic farmers a high-quality fertilizer while removing a destructive invasive species from our waterways. That's the kind of creative problem-solving that defines rural innovation.

Weather Brother: Weather Alerts That Actually Help

Dallas J McKinney demonstrated Weather Brother, a custom weather warning system that goes way beyond the standard alerts we're all used to. No more generic "shelter in place" warnings that leave you guessing what to actually do. Weather Brother provides personalized, actionable steps based on your exact address, the structure of your home, and your personal risk tolerance. When severe weather hits, you'll know exactly what you need to do to stay safe, whether that’s hunkering down in your bathtub, or driving in a safe direction before your structure is leveled.

Sunnyside Egg Co.: Redefining What "Pasture Raised" Really Means

Patrick Samuels pitched Sunnyside Egg with passion and humor. He's on a mission to change how America buys and sells truly pasture-raised and free-range eggs. Using regenerative farming practices, Patrick ensures his hens actually spend their days outside - so much so that he jokes they need sunglasses. In an industry where "free range" labels often mislead consumers, Sunnyside Egg is bringing transparency and authenticity back to the egg business, and in a way that is scaling beyond a traditional mom-n-pop small chicken farm.

Studio Steadfast: Gaming With Values

Daniel McCrorey shared his vision for Studio Steadfast, a Christian values-based gaming studio. His goal isn't to create preachy games - it's to prove you can build excellent video games with compelling storylines that exclude sexual content, profanity, and extreme violence without sacrificing quality or entertainment value. In an industry often criticized for its content, Studio Steadfast is carving out a unique space for gamers who want great games that align with their values.

OwnAChord: Simplifying Music Royalties

Callon Nanny pitched OwnAChord alongside his three cofounders: Steve Reid, Shanden Simmons, and Wilfredo Gumaru. They've built a platform that tackles one of the music industry's most tedious problems. When an artist releases a song, they typically have to register it on 15 different platforms to collect all their royalties. It's time-consuming, confusing, and many artists miss out on money they've rightfully earned. Artists are, well, artists. They want to create art, not chase down money hiding in a hundred cracks!

OwnAChord streamlines this entire process, saving artists time, simplifying complexity, and helping them collect every dollar they deserve.

Xrake Finisher: Filling a Construction Gap

Derrick Barnhill and Jason Brookshire showcased the Xrake Product, a portable power rake designed to finish ground for construction projects. Their innovation fills a massive gap in the construction industry. Currently, contractors face a tough choice: invest $200,000 in a large machine or finish the job with handheld rakes. The Xrake offers a third option - an affordable, portable solution that gets the job done right without breaking the bank. With a growing waitlist of contractors, municipalities, and more, Xrake Finisher is leveling the playing field and raking in the customers faster than they can make machines.

What Demo Day Really Represents

These eight companies tell a bigger story about Western Kentucky's entrepreneurial ecosystem. We're not just talking about tech startups or traditional agriculture. We're building a diverse, vibrant community of innovators who are tackling real problems across multiple industries.

What connects all these founders? They're building their businesses right here in Western Kentucky. They're not looking to relocate to the coasts for better opportunities. They're proving that you can launch, grow, and scale innovative companies from this region - and they're strengthening our local economy in the process.

Some are leveraging cutting-edge AI technology. Others are reimagining traditional industries like farming and construction. Several are creating entirely new markets. But all of them share one thing in common: they saw a problem worth solving and had the courage to build a solution.

The Road Ahead

Demo Day is proof that Western Kentucky is becoming a place where ambitious entrepreneurs can thrive. These founders are paving the way for the next generation of innovators in our region.

At Sprocket, we're grateful to walk alongside them as they continue building, growing, and pushing what's possible in our region. Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur, a potential investor, or someone who cares about Western Kentucky's economic future, these are the companies and founders worth watching.

The innovation happening here isn't theoretical or hypothetical. It's real businesses solving real problems, creating real jobs, and generating real economic impact. And this is just the beginning.
