On July 16, Sprocket and the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation (GOEDC) co-hosted Build What Works: A Lunch & Learn for People Who Want to Turn Ideas Into Real Businesses at the Old National Bank building in downtown Owensboro.
Designed for aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage founders, the event offered practical tools and inspiration for anyone ready to explore a business idea. Guests enjoyed pizza from Fetta, informal networking, and a focused talk from John Truitt on how to take meaningful first steps using Sprocket’s Market Fit Lab approach.

The workshop introduced the core concepts of Business Model Design, a framework that helps entrepreneurs test assumptions, connect with potential customers, and avoid common early-stage pitfalls. John’s 20-minute session was followed by Q&A and a clear invitation: take the next step by joining the Owensboro Market Fit Lab cohort.
Participants received information on how to join the upcoming virtual workshop series, which offers additional support, mentorship, and real-world tools to help founders move from idea to action.
Special thanks to GOEDC for partnering on this event and helping to bring startup support directly to the Owensboro community.
